***Holotropic Breathwork Session – Esalen Institute – Summer of 2024***
The men who dutifully concentrate on making sure the flies don’t land on their breathers.
The sitters who jump, almost jolt, at the opportunity to tuck the blanket around their breather.
The small, almost indecipherable upturn of Charles’ lips and how my chest feels its own smile upon witnessing it.
The tenderness I feel for this grown man, my peer. And how big my wanting is for whatever he wants. With no skin in the game, I feel the all-encompassing desire for him to be free. A feeling that, if I was standing, would bring me to my knees.
The sensation within when I hear my laugh has just harmonized with theirs.
And how funny it is when you are listening to an old man talk, and whatever he is going to say next sends a startling burst of laughter before his thought arrives between us.
Or the way she turns away into her laugh in the tub, almost like she can’t handle it, but starts talking before her laugh is over.
When toes touch.
When my hands are so cold from the river plunge, and just thinking about my hands being in theirs warms them.
Being a human with other humans is so touching.
I really do love this stranger party.

____________
Holotropic breath can allow us to tap into our altered state which can reclaim our cosmic status in the universe. Holotropic expands our state of consciousness.
Holotropic can be seen as a telescope into our psyche, similar to an astrologist observing the stars in the universe.
